Job summary
The Lead Instrument Engineer at Messer North America, Inc. provides technical leadership for instrumentation and analyzer designs across projects in the Americas.
You will develop specifications, support proposal and project teams, and mentor junior engineers to meet safety and code requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating basic and detail engineering, preparing supplier specifications, reviewing drawings and data sheets, and supporting plant construction, commissioning and start-up
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- 7–15 years of instrumentation and analyzer engineering experience.
- Willingness to travel 25–40%.
- Experience with plant construction, commissioning, and start-up.
- Knowledge of state and national codes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and review basic and detail engineering.
- Prepare specifications for suppliers and contractors.
- Develop instrumentation and analyzer installation drawings.
- Participate in HAZOPs and P&ID reviews.
- Manage vendor oversight and FATs.
- Support projects across multiple geographic locations.
- Monitor progress and KPIs; report deviations.
