Job summary

Messer Americas seeks a Lead Instrument Engineer to provide technical expertise for plant instrumentation and analyzer design, installation, repairs, operations, and code compliance in Project Engineering and Execution across the Americas.

This role delivers instrumentation and analyzer design/cost bases for proposals and projects, leveraging 3rd party resources as needed, and involves mentoring junior engineers and interfacing with other disciplines to meet project targets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
7-15 years of instrumentation and analyzer engineering experience.
Experience with industrial and chemical process plants.
Willingness to travel 25-40% or as required by business.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards, and client specifications.
Coordinate and review basic and detail engineering.
Define project scope during proposal phase and optimize conceptual design for production plants (Air separation, CO2, N2, H2).
Prepare and review technical specifications for suppliers, contractors, and bid packages.
Oversee instrument/analyzer installation drawings, datasheets, and control system architecture; support commissioning and start-up.
Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with other disciplines.
