Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Test Engineer to design and execute test strategies for measurement, control, and automation of experimental hardware and reactor development.

You will own I&C test activities from benchtop to automated stands, collaborating with test, electrical, software, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to commissioning and support test equipment, data logging, and validation.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with hands-on I&C experience.
• Five+ years in instrumentation, controls, or integrated test systems.
• Experience selecting sensors, signal conditioning and data acquisition.
• Experience PLC-based controls, HMIs, and control-loop behavior.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and diagnose networks.
• Exposure to calibration, uncertainty, and measurement accuracy.
• Turn test requirements into functioning systems and diagnose issues.
• Implement and verify interlocks and safety features.

Responsibilities

• Translate test objectives into measurement and control needs.
• Develop test methods, prerequisites, and data requirements.
• Design and maintain testing procedures for audit readiness.
• Select sensors, conditioning, and data acquisition for various parameters.
• Plan commissioning, FAT/SAT, and calibration checks.
• Build data-logging workflows with traceable results.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, signals, and networks during tests.
• Develop reusable automation to improve throughput.
