Job summary

Progressive Design, Inc. in Midlothian, VA is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Process or Electrical) to lead design, modeling and analysis of I&C requirements on heavy industrial projects.

You will develop P&IDs, control narratives, instrument data sheets, and specify automation components for DCS/SCADA/ICS, SIS, and Fire & Gas systems. The role requires 5+ years in electrical/instrumentation engineering, NEC knowledge, and PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Process or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineering registration preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical/instrumentation engineering.
• Knowledge of NEC and instrumentation standards (ISA).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of P&ID's for measurement and control.
• Develop control narratives and installation details.
• Specify instrumentation and data sheets for devices and analyzers.
• Size control valves using appropriate software and route conduits.
• Produce installation specifications and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with staff and discipline leads to ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare design calculations and sketches for materials of construction.
• Check calculations for accuracy and conformance to codes.
• Assist drafting in resolving layout problems and provide sketches.
