Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Nashville. The candidate will prepare instrumentation and control deliverables, including instrument indexes, I/O lists, control narratives, loop diagrams, panel layouts, and network diagrams, and will work within a multi-disciplined team to meet project objectives.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in instrumentation/controls, experience with DCS/PLC in industrial settings, and proficiency in AutoCAD/REVIT, P&ID input, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with independent design decisions.
• Experience integrating interfacing and evaluating programming logic within DCS and/or PLC platforms in Industrial settings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.
• Five+ years of instrumentation/controls experience.
• IT certificate preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Familiar with P&IDs, instrumentation tagging and nomenclature.
• Willingness to travel for field investigations and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support instrumentation deliverables: instrument indexes, I/O lists, control narratives, loop diagrams, panel layouts, network diagrams, cable schedules, and technical specs.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects meeting objectives.
• Provide input on instrumentation, tagging, and nomenclature.
• Utilize engineering software to prepare design documents.
• Engage with clients to communicate project progress and requirements.
