Job summary

Audubon Companies seeks an Instrument Engineer in Lake Charles, LA, with hands-on experience in field instrumentation design, specification, and selection. You will oversee instrument design, implementation, and troubleshooting for our clients' industrial processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in control systems integration and programming.
Extensive experience with field instrumentation is preferred.
Solid understanding of industrial control system architectures, communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC), and HMI/SCADA systems.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and other engineering drawings.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong project management and leadership abilities.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Must be eligible to work full time in Lake Charles, LA.

Responsibilities

Support onsite Project Team in development of design packages including installation, startup, operating procedures, manuals, and drawings.
Lead instrument and controls integration projects from concept to completion within timelines and budget.
Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand system requirements and objectives.
Develop instrument system architectures, including hardware selection and configuration.
Conduct system testing and commissioning, including functional testing and loop checks.
Troubleshoot instrumentation issues with field technicians and team members.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Prepare detailed project documentation and as-built drawings.
Stay updated with industry trends in instrument technologies.
Coordinate with maintenance, operations and other sites to address long-term instrument needs.
