Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to lead curriculum development, create training materials, and establish instructional standards that advance the organization’s strategic goals.

The role includes mentoring instructional designers, consulting on best practices, and evaluating learning outcomes through Kirkpatrick’s methodology to drive measurable improvements in performance and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, instructional design, education or related field; combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Kirkpatrick’s Methodology of Evaluation Certification preferred.
• 5 years of related experience in content development or instructional design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business partners to identify training needs and solutions.
• Act as a consultant and collaborate with instructional designers, trainers, business units, and area experts to determine course content and delivery method.
• Advise and collaborate with instructional designers to improve training activities and program effectiveness.
• Develop classroom and/or web-based courses and learning materials aligned with business goals.
• Evaluate learning outcomes using Kirkpatrick’s methodology of evaluation.
• Lead and delegate design tasks to junior instructional designers.
• Facilitate learning deliverable review processes.
• Adapt instructional content for different learners.
• Promote learning opportunities via email and intranet design elements.
• Facilitate in-person and/or virtual training on soft skills and technology.
