City of New York seeks an Inspector (Construction) to lead field inspections of sidewalk sheds and scaffolds, enforce NYC codes, and supervise inspection staff. The role supports daily operations and engages in outreach with industry bodies.

The position may offer remote work up to two days per week under the agency program and requires civil service eligibility for the Inspector (Construction) title.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in construction trades or related field.
• A professional engineer license or Site Safety Manager license, or equivalent.
• Sixty college credits toward civil engineering or related field; or equivalent.

Responsabilités

• Assist and support the Director, Chief, and Assistant Chief with daily operations.
• Create and maintain scheduling for sidewalk shed and scaffold inspections.
• Attend meetings and handle outreach for sidewalk shed and scaffold industry.
• Respond to accidents, incidents, and complaints; issue violations and stop work orders.
• Explain and enforce applicable laws and rules.
• Coordinate and perform joint inspections with other inspectors.
• Testify at ECB, depositions, and court as needed.
• Study drawings to obtain inspection details; maintain records and reports.
• Supervise inspectors; prioritize and assign workflow to meet goals.
• Review applications relevant to the field; represent the Department at meetings.
