Job summary

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, DPC in Mountainville, NY, seeks a full-time Chief Inspector to lead field supervision on Hudson Valley projects. You will coordinate inspectors, manage project issues, and ensure work meets contract documents and safety standards.

The role requires 6+ years in civil/highway engineering, NYSDOT or DOT experience, and a qualifying certification or license (NICET IV or NY PE).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil, highway, or relevant engineering field, with 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
• Must possess and maintain one of the following: NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction; NY Professional Engineering license; or other suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
• NYSDOT experience or other similar public agency or DOT experience is required.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and to establish and maintain project records.
• Must have the ability to obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required.
• Understanding of fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements to carry out testing; detail‑oriented.
• Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel to and within project sites; regular daily travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and track the progress of construction projects.
• Advise inspectors regarding project management, construction, and inspection issues.
• Prepare construction documents and records; maintain project records.
• Ensure compliance with budget standards and contract documents.
• Travel to and between project sites as required, using personal vehicle.
