Overview

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. is seeking a full‑time Chief Inspector for projects in the Hudson Valley and Catskills (Rockland, Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Columbia, Sullivan, Delaware). The role offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate, and track the progress of construction projects.
  • Assist and advise inspectors on project management, construction, and inspection issues.
  • Alert supervisors of major or recurring discrepancies.
  • Prepare construction documents and records.
  • Ensure compliance with budget standards and contract documents.
  • Conduct inspections and provide assurance that projects meet all contractual requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Remain in a stationary position as needed.
  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate via company email and telephone systems.
  • Move around job sites, including ascending or descending on ladders or the terrain.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs for inspections.
  • Maintain good visual skills and depth perception.
  • Operate a motor vehicle daily for site travel.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years experience in civil, highway, or a related engineering field, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess and maintain one of the following licenses/certifications:
    • Valid NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction
    • Valid NY Professional Engineering license
    • Other suitable combinations of education, training, or experience will be considered
  • NYSDOT or equivalent public agency or DOT experience is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and maintain project records.
  • Must obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required.
  • Detail‑oriented understanding of inspection codes and requirements.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle for daily site travel.

Pay Range

Hourly: $40.00 – $75.00
