Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Senior Inspector for our Kentucky Construction Management Team. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing roadway activities, ensuring structural quality, safety and conformance to plans and codes on site.

Responsibilities include coordinating inspection efforts, supervising staff, drafting correspondence, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 10+ years of roadway construction inspection experience.
• Valid certifications in the listed areas such as ACI/Grade & Drain/Structures.
• Strong knowledge of plans, codes, and safety requirements.
• Experience coordinating inspection teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, site layouts, specifications and methods for compliance and safety.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and related materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify elevations and alignment per plans.
• Coordinate and supervise inspections to ensure contractor compliance.
• Schedule and manage inspection staff across project phases.
• Draft project correspondence and facilitate meetings with the client.
• Maintain and organize project records and field notes.
• Interact with public agencies, contractors, and others to respond to inquiries.

JMT is seeking a Senior Inspector to join their Kentucky Construction Management Team. The successful candidates will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required Skills

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 10+ years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience

Preferred Experience

• Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (may be substituted for experience)

• Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role
• KYTC Policies and Procedures
• AASHTO SiteManager/SiteManager Materials

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
