Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Senior Inspector to join our Kentucky Construction Management Team. The successful candidate applies standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities for structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans and codes.

The role requires 10+ years of roadway inspection experience and several certifications, with field work in various conditions. This position may involve coordinating staff and interacting with clients and government

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 10+ years of roadway construction inspection experience.
• Certifications include: ACI Level I, Grade & Drain Level I, Structures Inspection, Aggregate Sampling Technician, KEPSCI-RI, Asphalt Field Technician.
• Must pass JMT Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, site layouts, specs and construction methods for compliance.
• Perform concrete, soils and material tests.
• Measure dimensions, ensure elevation and alignment per plans.
• Supervise inspection activities and staff across project phases.
• Draft correspondence, facilitate meetings and respond to field issues.
• Maintain records and field notes; interact with stakeholders.

JMT is seeking a Senior Inspector to join their Kentucky Construction Management Team. The successful candidates will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (may be substituted for experience)

• Ability to act in an Owner’s Agent/Responsible in Charge role
• KYTC Policies and Procedures
• AASHTO SiteManager/SiteManager Materials

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
