Job summary

Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan is seeking an Outpatient Coder to accurately code and abstract outpatient medical records per assignment, meeting productivity standards and AHIMA guidelines. You will assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 procedures, maintain organized coding references, participate in ongoing education, and uphold professional coding practices.

This position offers a $4,500 sign-on bonus and comprehensive health benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is required.
• Certification as RHIT, RHIA or CCS is required.
• Two years' previous coding experience using ICD10-CM, CPT-4 coding systems (Outpatient Senior Coder).

• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes, per established national, departmental guidelines and AHIMA Code of Ethics.

• Maintains organized system for personal coding reference material. Participates in educational activities and maintains coding skills.

What's Required

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is required. CCS certification and 2 years coding experience will be considered.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.

• Two years' previous coding experience using ICD10-CM, CPT-4 coding systems (Outpatient Senior Coder).
