Zusammenfassung

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a skilled HIM coder to document and code inpatient and IRAD encounters. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT codes and MS-DRG determinations based on chart reviews and clinical documentation.

The role emphasizes accuracy, timely filing and collaboration with physicians and billing teams. A strong HIM certification and several years of hospital coding experience are required.

Qualifikationen

• Three (3) years of hospital inpatient coding or interventional radiology (IRAD) hospital coding experience.
• Current HIM or Coding Certification through ONE of the following: AHIMA or AAPC.
• Graduate of HIT or equivalent program OR Medical Coding Certification Program (preferred).

Aufgaben

• Codes inpatient and/or IRAD 90% of current FTE status.
• Reviews and interprets medical record documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, or modifiers.
• Ensures MS-DRG assignment based on accurate coding and documentation.
• Assigns hospital codes to patient classes (I/P, IRAD, etc.).
• Ensures timely coding, charging and abstraction of accounts for assigned areas.
• Maintains coding knowledge through training, seminars, and updates to manuals.
• Ensures data accuracy for clean billing.
• Contacts physicians to obtain information required for accurate coding.
