Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in Wallingford, CT seeks an Inpatient Coding Specialist for full-time hybrid work. You will review inpatient records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes per AHIMA guidelines, and support DRG assignments.

The role collaborates with Utilization Management, provides education to clinical staff, and participates in quality audits, monthly reporting, and DRG validation. Requires AHIMA credentials preferred, 3 years inpatient coding, EMR proficiency, and knowledge of CMS PPS.

Formación

• Associate's degree or equivalent in Health Information Management; bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of direct inpatient hospital coding experience.
• AHIMA certifications preferred: CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA or CPC.
• Expertise with ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and Official Coding Guidelines.
• Proficient with EMR and coding references; CMS Hospital PPS and DRG knowledge.

Responsabilidades

• Review inpatient records and assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures per guidelines.
• Analyze documentation to support ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding and DRG assignment.
• Communicate DRG assignments to clinical staff and collaborate with Utilization Management.
• Prepare monthly reports and monitor data trends; participate in audits and education.
