Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) in Binghamton, NY seeks an Inpatient Coder III to ensure accurate inpatient coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS. You will collaborate with physicians, HIM, and coding colleagues to support compliant reimbursement and data integrity.

You will review complex records, participate in audits, mentor staff, and uphold HIPAA and coding guidelines while contributing to revenue integrity and quality reporting. Day shift, 40 hours per week, hourly earning potential shown.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Health Information Technology (HIT) required.
• RHIT, CIC or CCS certification required or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of direct inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting.
• Minimum 5 years of healthcare industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years in same work environment and with specialized tools/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review and code complex inpatient records using ICD‑10‑CM/PCS to ensure accurate representation and compliant reimbursement.
• Analyze documentation to identify diagnoses, procedures, comorbidities, and impact on DRG assignment.
• Apply advanced coding knowledge to resolve complex scenarios while meeting productivity and accuracy standards.
• Query providers to support complete, clear, and compliant medical records.
• Use encoder tools and EHR platforms to support inpatient coding workflows.
