The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks a Senior Innovation Policy Specialist to shape and execute its Innovation Policy agenda, focusing on bridging fintech, insurtech, and regulatory frameworks. Based in New York City, you will lead research, policy analysis, and cross-functional coordination.

You will manage projects, develop policy recommendations for senior leadership, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance a proactive innovation policy program.

Qualifications

• Seven years of specialized experience in research, planning, administration, and/or analysis of policies affecting regulated financial services entities.
• Analysis of state and federal statutes and regulations and their effects on financial services activities.
• Expertise in AI, data privacy, fintech, insurtech, and payments.

The role involves qualitative and quantitative research on fintech, insurtech, and regtech; policy analysis and development; managing projects across the Innovation Policy Unit; and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The position is based in New York City and reports to senior leadership.

Key qualifications:

• Seven years of specialized experience in research, planning, administration, and/or analysis of policies affecting regulated financial services entities
• Research and analysis of State and federal statutes and regulations and their effects on financial services business activities
• Expertise in emerging innovation policy issues including artificial intelligence, data privacy, fintech, insurtech, and payments
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to provide policy recommendations and briefings to senior leadership
