Job summary

The New York State Department of Financial Services is seeking applicants for a role shaping DFS's Innovation Policy agenda, engaging with fintech and insurtech companies and bridging needs with financial regulations.

The Innovation Policy Unit conducts qualitative and quantitative research to inform decision-making, reviews policy topics, and manages external engagement with innovators.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of specialized experience in one of the following: research, planning, administration, and/or analysis of the policies and procedures affecting regulated entities.
• Research and analysis of State and federal statutes and regulations and their effects upon the business activities of financial services entities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of emerging innovation policy issues (AI, data privacy, payments, fintech, insurtech) and their business models.
• Identify and assess relevant current and emerging risks, and present recommendations for regulatory actions.
• Collaborate with colleagues and assist on projects across DFS including as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist in drafting policy recommendations, and contribute to the analysis of policy proposals.
• Direct agency projects by researching, planning, overseeing, and implementing policies to meet timelines.
• Support partnerships with internal/external stakeholders and participate in meetings on programs.
• Provide briefings and status updates to senior staff and other parties.
• Work on projects and initiatives as requested by the Superintendent and other senior staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
