Job summary

The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks a Senior Innovation Policy Specialist to shape DFS’s Innovation Policy agenda, focusing on fintech, insurtech, regtech, and related policy analysis. You will coordinate cross-agency initiatives and engage with technology-intensive financial-services firms to align regulation with new business models.

Responsibilities include conducting qualitative and quantitative research, drafting policy recommendations, and managing external engagement

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of specialized experience in policy analysis related to financial services.
• Experience researching state and federal statutes and regulations and their effects on business activities in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a thorough understanding of emerging innovation policy issues including AI, data privacy, payments, fintech and insurtech.
• Identify and assess risks, and present regulatory action recommendations.
• Collaborate with colleagues on cross-agency projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist in drafting policy recommendations and analysis of policy proposals.
• Direct and manage agency projects by conducting research, developing implementation strategies, and overseeing policy execution.
• Support partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and meet with outside entities.
• Provide briefings and updates to senior staff.
• Contribute to projects requested by senior leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
