Job summary

Built, the AI-first platform for construction and real estate finance, seeks a Senior Innovation Engineer to design durable platform primitives, ship MVPs with real customers, and enhance AI-driven workflows within the Marketplace team in Nashville.

You will mentor junior engineers, partner with staff engineers on system design, and help scale AI integrations across our products while maintaining a customer-focused delivery mindset.

Qualifications

• 4‑7 years of experience in software engineering with solid backend/distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Experience shipping an MVP or prototype to a customer-testable state in a fast-iteration environment.
• Some experience building with or integrating LLM providers (Claude, Gemini, OpenAI) and/or document-extraction tooling, or strong aptitude to grow into it quickly.

Responsibilities

• Platform & primitives: design and build durable, reusable services for Marketplace products using microservices and asynchronous workflow orchestration (e.g., Temporal).
• New product bets: build prototypes and MVPs and validate with real customers, iterating weekly based on feedback.
• Adoption & optimization: improve workflows and usability for launched products.
• AI-native development: build and refine agent harnesses and AI/LLM-integrated workflows and test with eval tooling.
• Engage in customer discovery and translate findings for product/engineering leads.
• Mentor newer engineers on the team and collaborate with staff engineers on system design decisions.
• Identify and fix friction in team workflows within your project scope.
