Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in the Midwest (MN, WI, IA, ND, SD) seeks an Executive Underwriter with strong Inland Marine experience to lead portfolio management and partner with agents. This full-time, exempt role offers hybrid or remote work and a path to senior strategy leadership within underwriting.

You’ll guide technical underwriting, performance metrics, and profitability while coaching junior staff and ensuring regulatory compliance across the territory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent; professional designations preferred.
• 10+ years of Inland Marine underwriting experience with broad class exposure.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting, book management, marketing and product development.
• Ability to coach underwriters and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business, renewal business and endorsements.
• Achieve financial targets for growth and profitability.
• Drive execution of plans to achieve results.
• Oversee junior underwriters on portfolio management and decisions.
• Ensure compliance and identify underwriting issues.
• Develop new business with agents and build Hanover partnerships.
• Contribute to broader strategy with focus on execution.
