The Hartford in Morristown, NJ is seeking an Inland Marine Executive Underwriter within the Middle & Large Commercial area to lead the underwriting and sales process, building strong relationships with agents and brokers. Hybrid work schedule with office presence three days a week; base pay range provided and additional incentives

Qualifications

• 3+ years of P&C Commercial Carrier underwriting experience; Inland Marine preferred.
• Expertise in underwriting construction, transportation, and renewable energy risks preferred.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Energetic self-starter with time and desk management skills.
• Valid driver's license; company pool car may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Analyze underwriting information and assess risk; make recommendations to management.
• Maintain adherence to underwriting and service standards.
• Balance risk relative to return to make sound underwriting decisions.
• Assist in client meetings and agency calls.
• Develop marketing plans and strategies.
• Cultivate relationships to promote Marine products regionally.
• Coordinate with Hartford Marine Center to support sales and service objectives.
• Ensure achievement of financial goals and business plan objectives.
• Manage change effectively and utilize systems efficiently.
