Job summary

NEWRANGE COPPER NICKEL LLC is seeking an Infrastructure Study Principal to lead the Sunrise study's site infrastructure scope, including layout, power, water supply, access, transport and buildings, through concept, pre-feasibility and subsequent study phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, site development or project engineering within mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure discipline through at least one concept, pre-feasibility or feasibility study to a completed gate decision.
• Experience developing site layouts and infrastructure concepts for greenfield mining projects.
• Experience with power supply, water supply, site utilities and logistics concepts for remote or greenfield mining sites.
• Experience developing scopes of work for external infrastructure engineering consultants.
• Experience designing infrastructure for cold climate operating conditions is asset.
• Advanced degree is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop Sunrise site layout and infrastructure concept to study gate definition, integrating mining, processing, mine waste, water and infrastructure footprints.
• Lead trade-off and options studies on infrastructure siting, routing and configuration with documented retention criteria.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure design criteria using inputs from related scopes.
• Test site layout against land, access and environmental constraints with the Environmental & Permitting Principal.
• Lead the power supply concept, including demand estimate, supply options and connection/generation requirements.
• Lead water supply and conveyance infrastructure concept per water balance concepts.
• Define fuel, communications and other site utilities and reflect in layout and cost estimate.
• Develop road, rail and site access concepts for product movement and personnel.
• Develop concepts for non-process buildings and support facilities.
• Define geotechnical investigation needs and coordinate with Mining Study Principal.
• Develop scopes of work for external consultants and direct/review deliverables.
• Maintain infrastructure entries in risk register and present sections of study reports and governance materials.
• Interface with NorthMet Engineering and Technical Services to share standards while maintaining Sunrise scope independence.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff; maintain design basis and records for handover.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
