Atlas Search seeks a Director, System Engineer to lead a global Infrastructure team responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, security, and performance of enterprise environments.

This hands-on role covers Windows, virtualization, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), Citrix, AD, security, and CI/CD pipelines. The position operates in a 24/7 globally distributed environment with 4 days onsite / 1 day remote in New York City.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT infrastructure or systems engineering.
• Experience in financial services or trading environments preferred.
• Hands-on Citrix, Azure, AWS, and VMware administration.
• Strong Windows Server, AD, and security knowledge.

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Director, System Engineer to join a global Infrastructure team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, security, and performance of enterprise technology environments.

This is a hands-on engineering and operations role that will work across Windows infrastructure, virtualization, cloud platforms, Citrix, Active Directory, security, and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical depth, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to partner with multiple technology teams to support critical business initiatives.

The role supports a globally distributed, 24/7 environment and offers the opportunity to work on both day-to-day infrastructure operations and larger engineering projects.

Location: New York City | Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and support global infrastructure systems across development, test, and production environments
• Maintain operational excellence by ensuring infrastructure is secure, current, reliable, and performing efficiently
• Manage the full lifecycle of Windows Server environments, including patching, security updates, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Support critical financial and back-office applications, including trading, fund accounting, and financial accounting platforms
• Manage and support VMware virtualization environments and associated hardware and software
• Administer and support Citrix environments, including Delivery Controller, PVS, StoreFront, and NetScaler/VPX
• Support and manage infrastructure across Azure and AWS, including IaaS/PaaS workloads, networking, storage, containers, serverless services, and managed databases
• Manage enterprise compute and storage platforms, including Cisco UCS and Pure Storage or similar technologies
• Administer Active Directory, including replication, domains, GPOs, ACLs, and troubleshooting
• Support Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Exchange, Office 365, Azure/Entra ID, and related services
• Implement and maintain endpoint and infrastructure security solutions, including Defender and Intune
• Manage vulnerability scanning, remediation, authentication, and infrastructure security controls
• Work with technologies such as SAML, Kerberos, RADIUS, MFA, PAM, and PIM
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation and contribute to CI/CD and code repository workflows
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, performance, and availability while developing reporting and alerting
• Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
• Partner with Help Desk and other technology teams to resolve escalated technical issues
• Participate in infrastructure projects from planning and design through implementation and ongoing support
• Maintain and improve technical documentation, processes, and operational standards
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 global environment

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience working within an IT infrastructure or systems engineering environment
• Strong experience supporting infrastructure within a financial services or trading environment preferred
• Advanced hands-on experience with Citrix technologies, including Delivery Controller, PVS, StoreFront, and NetScaler/VPX
• Extensive experience with Azure and AWS, including cloud networking, compute, storage, containers, serverless services, and managed databases
• Strong Windows Server administration and engineering experience
• Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, including GPOs, ACLs, replication, domains, and troubleshooting
• Experience with VMware virtualization
• Experience managing enterprise compute and storage environments, such as Cisco UCS and Pure Storage
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Office 365, Entra ID/Azure AD, SQL Server, and Exchange
• Experience with SCCM or similar endpoint management and software deployment platforms
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, authentication, vulnerability management, and remediation
• Experience with monitoring platforms, alerting, reporting, and capacity planning
• Experience with code repositories and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong root-cause analysis and complex troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to participate in evening/weekend support and on-call rotations
• Ability to support globally distributed offices and technology environments

• Experience with SQL Server database administration
