Job summary

Edison Scientific seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own the core platform infrastructure for its AI scientist platform. You will design, scale, and operate Kubernetes-driven infrastructure, focusing on resilience, autoscaling, and efficient resource orchestration to enable autonomous scientific discovery.

Join a platform-team on-site in San Francisco, collaborating with backend, ML, and research teams to deliver production-grade infrastructure that accelerates science and medicine

Qualifications

• Typically 5+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering, with hands-on Kubernetes in production.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and networking, storage, and IAM.
• Proficiency in at least one system/backend language for operator development.
• Hands-on with IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane) and GitOps workflows.
• Strong knowledge of container networking, CSI, StatefulSets, and security.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and operate Kubernetes clusters at scale for thousands of resources.
• Drive cluster scaling strategies, node pools, autoscaling, and resource quotas.
• Design robust scheduling and placement for heterogeneous workloads.
• Establish observability, monitoring, and incident response best practices.
• Own storage and networking strategies within Kubernetes (CSI, ingress, service mesh).
• Troubleshoot complex infra issues and guide others in distributed environments.
• Collaborate with backend, ML, and research teams to translate workloads into infra patterns.
