Job summary

Maersk in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design and optimize enterprise-scale infrastructure that underpins global terminal operations. You will lead modernization across virtualization, compute, storage, and cloud platforms, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, security, and scalability on-site.

The role requires expertise in VMware and Nutanix, AWS, and Infrastructure-as-Code, plus mentoring and strong incident response.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise virtualization environments, particularly VMware and ideally Nutanix.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and modern infrastructure architectures.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions across virtualization, compute, storage, backup, and cloud environments.
• Lead complex infrastructure projects from planning through implementation, including risk management and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and serve as the final escalation point for critical infrastructure incidents.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, technology roadmaps, and modernization strategies.
• Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to improve scalability, efficiency, and consistency.
• Drive security, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives across infrastructure platforms.
• Mentor infrastructure engineers and promote knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and best practices across the team.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and conduct proof-of-concept activities to assess business value and technical feasibility.
• Lead capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives across infrastructure environments.
• Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.
