Job summary

SolomonEdwards is seeking a Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer with hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise networks and modern infrastructure platforms. This role focuses on secure data transfer, automation, and operational rigor across networking hardware, virtualization, and cloud workloads.

Key responsibilities include owning VMware operations, migrating to Nutanix-based platforms, and managing Azure workloads, Kubernetes, and containerized apps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a senior network/infrastructure engineering role supporting enterprise environments (hybrid datacenter + cloud).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, VMware (vSphere/ESX/ESXi), and Microsoft Azure (must-haves).
• Strong routing/switching, VPNs, QoS, and troubleshooting skills (packet capture/traffic analysis).
• Firewall administration with SonicWall, Cisco ASA, and Palo Alto.
• Experience with virtualization operations and performance tuning (compute, storage, networking).
• Windows Server administration including legacy environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange in enterprise contexts.
• SQL Server environments (AlwaysOn preferred).
• Strong documentation and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operations of VMware environment (vSphere/ESX/ESXi): lifecycle management and incident response.
• Migrate from VMware to Nutanix-based platforms minimizing downtime and risk.
• Manage and optimize Azure workloads and cloud networking/security controls.
• Operate Kubernetes environments and containerized applications; manage registries, image hygiene, and security.
• Implement and maintain load balancing (L4/L7) and TLS configurations; monitor performance.
• Design, implement, and support LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi networks; configure routing/switching and core services.
• Harden firewalls/VPNs and secure remote access patterns.
• Support vulnerability remediation, security hardening, PCI/SOC controls where applicable.
• Improve observability, monitoring, and incident response; participate in on-call rotations.
• Create and maintain runbooks and diagrams to improve operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
