Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Senior Industrial/Systems Engineer to lead analytics and improvement initiatives. You’ll partner with senior leaders to define and apply methods that cut waste, improve cycle times, and enhance patient experience across the network.

The role focuses on developing innovative analytical solutions, guiding cost savings programs, and driving performance improvements using Lean Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 years related experience in improving operations and conducting complex analytical studies and project management.
  • Expert ability to use continuous improvement tools such as process mapping, root cause analysis, and value stream mapping.
  • Proficient in using MS Office; exposure to simulation and statistical software (e.g., SIMUL8, Arena, Minitab, SAS).

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced statistical and financial analytical support to senior management and project teams.
  • Develops and implements analytical solutions to support regional strategic and operational decisions.
  • Champions labor productivity, benchmarking, and labor ratio targets for the organization.
  • Performs current-state assessments to identify opportunities and map actionable plans.
  • Leads department-level improvement initiatives and network projects.

Summary

Leads the organization in envisioning, developing, and implementing innovative approaches to solving problems and transforming healthcare systems by utilizing techniques and methodologies based in disciplines such as industrial and systems engineering, financial analysis, statistics, project management, and lean six sigma principles.

Utilizes continuous improvement principles and tools to reduce waste, improve cycle times, reduce rework, and improve patient experience.

Serves as project manager and technical guide to cost savings and process improvement efforts.

Job Duties
  • Provides advanced statistical and financial analytical support to senior management and various project teams to support decision making for regional strategic and operational efforts.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements innovative analytical solutions, based upon proven methodologies which support decision‑making across the organization.
  • Champions the ongoing development and support of the department's core services including labor productivity, external benchmarking, and labor ratio targets for the organization.
  • Complete assessments in an efficient manner to understand the current state process, obtain and evaluate relevant data, identify opportunities, eliminate waste, and chart a resolute course of action.
  • Leads department level improvement initiatives, and network projects.
  • Works directly with senior leadership to achieve Network goals and strategic objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 years Prelated experience in improving operations and conducting complex, analytical studies, and project management.
  • Expert ability to use continuous improvement tools, including but not limited to process mapping, process observation, root cause analysis (FMEA), value stream mapping, pareto and statistical charts, 5 Whys, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Visio); has exposure to at least one computer simulation software (SIMUL8, Arena, FlexSim, Promodel); has exposure to at least one statistical analysis software (Minitab, SAS).
  • Ability to identify key business issues and develop appropriate analyses and action plans for improving operational efficiency.
  • Has exposure to the basics of financial analytics. Can competently calculate cost savings.
  • Proficient in project management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Information & Computer Sciences, or Business Administration or related field.
  • ICGB - Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt - International Association for Six Sigma Certification.
