Job summary

Glassboard, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks a Senior Industrial Designer to lead design direction on complex programs for our clients, turning user needs and engineering constraints into compelling products. You will mentor designers, work with engineers, PMs, and clients from concept to production intent, and help raise the team’s craft standard.

The role spans consumer, medical, industrial, and connected hardware, reporting to the Director of Product.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in industrial design.
• Portfolio demonstrating leadership on production-intent products, not just concept work.
• Proficiency in Onshape/SolidWorks or similar parametric modeling program.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot, and Figma with strong visualization skills.
• Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA practices.
• Exceptional ideation and storytelling abilities.
• Collaborative, user-focused approach with attention to detail and quick iteration.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept generation through sketching, rendering, and 3D modeling.
• Set and defend design direction from early concept through production intent.
• Balance function, usability, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
• Create physical and digital prototypes to test ideas.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to address design constraints early.
• Lead client communications and presentations.
• Conduct market and user research to inform decisions.
• Own Class-A surfacing within production-intent CAD with engineering on DFM.
• Manage design tasks and timelines across multiple programs.
• Mentor other industrial designers with feedback on craft and process.
• Evolve and uphold the design standard for the firm.
• Share insights on materials, trends, and manufacturing processes.
