Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Sr. Industrial Designer to join the WWGS Design Engineering team. You will own composite drawing packages, construction documents, and permitting for large-scale industrial grocery facilities across the network.

Expect fast-paced, multi-project ownership and collaboration with internal and external teams. The role requires deep industrial design expertise, precision, and the ability to balance operational efficiency, scalability, and cost.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience with design & innovation and research & development.
• Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
• 4+ years reading and understanding schematics and drawings.
• Experience managing construction documents and permitting for complex projects.
• Proven ability to maintain and create drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design support for large-scale industrial grocery facilities across the project spectrum.
• Develop, manage, and maintain composite drawing packages and construction document sets.
• Lead shell design coordination: site civil interface, structural systems, building envelope, core-and-shell docs.
• Manage tenant improvement design and documentation for grocery operations and automation.
• Lead permitting across jurisdictions with authorities, landlords, and regulators.
• Partner with Real Estate, Pre-Construction, Construction, PM, and Operations Engineering teams.
• Collaborate with external architects/engineers to finalize docs and permits.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to optimize layouts and material flow.
• Create scalable design solutions and ensure repeatability across network.
• Maintain drawing standards across lines and create new standards for new building types.
• Support value engineering to improve throughput, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Drive programmatic design rollouts across the distribution center network.
• Manage consultant and vendor relationships throughout design and construction.
• Identify and mitigate design risks; escalate to leadership as needed.
