Job summary

The Haskell Company is seeking an experienced automation/controls engineer to lead electrical design, PLC and HMI development, and data collection for industrial projects. You will manage design budgets, schedules, and vendor deliverables under supervision, while independently handling commissioning and startup with travel up to 40%.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical or related field with 5–10 years in industrial controls design
• Experience in food, pharma, beverage, or consumer products preferred
• Ability to understand and generate electrical designs/schematics for automation and control systems
• PLC programming in RSLogix5000 for Allen-Bradley required; other platforms desired

Responsibilities

• Conceptual Design: prepare/update Control System Architecture Drawings and man-hour estimates
• Design: develop low voltage power and control systems for automated processes; prepare scopes of work and BOMs; review drawings; develop functional specs/sequence of operations; develop PLC and HMI software; develop data collection software
• Construction/Startup Support: respond to RFIs; supervise panel construction; update punch lists; train client staff; commission control system; maintain records of design changes; provide ongoing technical support; travel up to 40%
• Project Management: provide progress reports to supervisors and PMs
• Profitability, Planning, and Scheduling: coordinate with PM to maximize profitability; align with scheduling
• Professional Development: pursuit of a PE license encouraged
• Leadership: mentor staff
• Travel: up to 40% annually
