Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI is seeking a lead engineer to head team and projects supporting manufacturing (VO & PMTE) with advanced technologies. Collaborate with MFG, IT, PD, R&A, and suppliers to benchmark tech and build supplier partnerships for ZFF capabilities.

You will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and document knowledge; update standards and lessons learned, review IT systems integration, and oversee risk assessments. Travel up to 40% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Hands on troubleshooting PLC, robotics, vision and automation issues.
• Knowledge of Industrial Automation programming principals – Schneider, Bosch, Siemens & Rockwell.
• Knowledge RFID systems including complexity management, scheduling and QOS strategies.
• Knowledge of international electrical/safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC) and safety processes.
• Travel up to 40% Domestic & International (Canada & Mexico).
• Ability to read Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic Prints.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead team and projects supporting manufacturing using advanced technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (MFG, IT, PD, R&A, Suppliers).
• Benchmark advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to support capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge documentation.
• Interface with Manufacturing Operations to identify technical challenges and opportunities.
• Maintain and provide feedback on standards, lessons learned, training, and cost matrices.
• Perform component selection, evaluation, and risk assessment.
• Lead controls design reviews and safety requirements sign-off.
• Support downtime issue resolution and fault analysis.
