Job summary

Symbotic, based in Massachusetts, seeks a Staff Industrial Controls Engineer to lead PLC and HMI development within the Industrial Automation team. You will define technical work, validate requirements with stakeholders, and drive tests and deployments on customer sites or remotely.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 8+ years in design/implementation of industrial control systems, with expertise in Rockwell ControlLogix/GuardLogix, Ignition

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Automation Engineering or Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years design and implementation of industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs and drives.
• 8+ years programming PLCs, HMIs and related equipment for industrial control systems (Rockwell preferred).
• Advanced experience with Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix, GuardLogix) and industrial networks.
• Experience with Ignition 8 and FactoryTalk ME/SE for HMI development.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and troubleshoot complex automated systems.
• Travel approx. 40% to Canada and United States; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Elaborate, define, and plan technical work from objectives, validating requirements with stakeholders.
• Lead test strategy execution, test plans, reports, and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Independently execute technical work and supervise other resources as needed.
• Coach and develop less experienced employees and drive process improvements.
• Collaborate with release management and perform PLC/HMI updates on-site or remotely.
• Provide new control system functionalities and modify existing solutions.
• Document equipment configuration, system functionality, and team processes.
