Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Manager, Indirect Tax to oversee sales and use tax compliance, audits, and tax planning. The role involves coordinating with providers to file returns across U.S. states and Canada, managing GL reconciliations, and defending tax positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax or finance required.
• 10+ years of indirect tax experience in public accounting or large multinational.
• Experience with MS Excel and tax research tools (e.g., RIA Checkpoint).

Responsibilities

• Gather and coordinate with external providers to prepare sales and use tax returns across all U.S. states and Canada.
• Manage monthly and year-end general ledger account reconciliation.
• Stay informed on products and growth to provide compliance guidance and audit defense.
• Resolve tax notices and related issues.
• Conduct tax research on sales/use tax and other indirect taxes.
• Assist in reviewing invoices for sales tax and use tax accruals.
• Validate data and correct tax calculations in Vertex and Avalara.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on exemptions and savings opportunities.
• Document indirect tax positions, issues and resolutions.
• Assist with indirect tax audits, refunds, and responses to tax authorities.
• Maintain indirect tax licenses, filings, and tax calendars.
