Job summary

Transamerica is seeking an experienced tax professional to oversee indirect tax compliance and related accounting. You will guide staff, apply tax analysis, and work on complex, diverse activities across state and federal tax obligations.

The role involves drafting memos, developing custom reports, leading projects on new tax laws, and ensuring data integrity while collaborating across departments to mitigate risk and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education/experience.
• Eight years of tax accounting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of assigned tax specialty.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
• Advanced computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Extract financial data from various tax, accounting, and information systems to perform analyses.
• Review indirect tax returns and associated tax accounting with focus on state insurance premium tax, use tax, franchise tax, and related duties.
• Draft and/or review technical memos and outlines.
• Develop non-standard reports and statements.
• Lead assigned projects including integration of new tax laws and accounting principles.
• Research complicated tax law and accounting principles; monitor tax law for data integrity.
• Provide leadership and direction to others.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve business issues and ensure internal controls.
