Job summary

Azalea Therapeutics is seeking a hands-on Senior Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join the Synthetic Immunology team in Berkeley. You will generate high-quality data supporting multiple pre-clinical programs, evaluate engineered T cell products, and help shape experimental plans within defined workstreams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related life science discipline.
• Senior Research Associate: minimum 4 years of hands-on lab experience in academia, biotech, or pharma.
• Associate Scientist: minimum 6 years of hands-on lab experience with independent design and judgment.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and primary immune cell workflows.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, execute, analyze, and document in vitro experiments evaluating engineered T cell products and delivery technologies.
• Culture, engineer, expand, and characterize primary T cells and relevant cell lines.
• Perform and optimize cell-based and immunological assays including flow cytometry and cytokine analysis.
• Generate high‑quality data to support candidate evaluation and program decisions.
• Troubleshoot workflows and contribute to method development and optimization.
• Communicate results clearly to project teams and maintain inspection-ready records.
• Collaborate across research, process development, and program teams to align work with priorities.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to cross-functional scientific discussions.
