Job summary

Azalea Therapeutics in Berkeley seeks a Research Associate I/II to join its Research & Development team. This hands-on role will execute cell- and molecular-biology experiments to advance AZA-2509 and the in vivo delivery platform, generating high-quality data and maintaining rigorous laboratory records.

The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists across research, process development, analytical development, and preclinical functions, with level based on experience and independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field or equivalent experience.
• RA I: 0–2 years of laboratory experience.
• RA II: 2–4 years with increasing technical independence.
• Hands-on bench experience with digital PCR/qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry and/or chromatography.
• Experience in biotech/pharma research and quality-conscious labs.
• Ability to follow protocols, analyze data, and document results precisely.

Responsibilities

• Execute molecular biology studies supporting EDV delivery and genome editing.
• Perform routine assays for EDV and AAV programs with defined SOPs.
• Conduct nucleic-acid extraction, ddPCR/qPCR, flow cytometry, and immunoassays.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize data; communicate trends and deviations.
• Maintain complete lab records in electronic notebooks per data integrity standards.
• Prepare summaries and contribute figures to reports and presentations.
• Troubleshoot routine issues and improve assay robustness.
• Support method qualification, verification, and SOP updates.
• Assist with lab operations, inventory, and safety compliance.
