Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston, MA, seeks a government contracts attorney to lead the lifecycle from proposal review to negotiations with a focus on FAR/DFARS compliance. You will draft and negotiate teaming agreements, licenses, NDAs, and vendor contracts while helping build scalable playbooks and templates for a growing legal team. You should have a J.D.

and U.S. bar admission with 8+ years of experience, deep government contracts expertise, and a strong commercial contracting background.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
• 8+ years of substantive legal experience, ideally including in-house corporate experience.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. government contracts law (FAR/DFARS) across prime, subcontractor, or agency work.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial contracts, especially procurements and vendor agreements.
• Resourceful and able to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, growing environment.
• Interest in law/policy related to Merlin's technology beyond core duties.
• Willingness to expand into new areas and potentially obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the government contracts lifecycle: proposal review, procurement strategy, negotiations, contract structuring, FAR/DFARS compliance.
• Handle day-to-day commercial legal activities: draft and negotiate teaming agreements, technology licenses, NDAs, and vendor agreements.
• Help build contracting templates, playbooks, and process infrastructure to scale the team.
• Grow into other legal matters as workload grows, including international contracting and IP/licensing questions.
