Job summary

Green Thumb is seeking an experienced in-house employment attorney to join our Legal team. You will partner with People and business leaders across multi-state operations to provide practical, business-focused guidance on the full employee lifecycle.

The role covers day-to-day employment matters, EEOC charges, and complex leave and accommodation issues. Responsibilities include advising on investigations, managing EEOC processes, policy development, and training managers on high-risk areas like

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission in the state of residence.
• 6+ years of employment law experience, preferably in-house.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Experience navigating multi-state compliance; cannabis industry experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with outside counsel.
• Excellent legal analysis, reasoning, and writing skills.
• Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and assess risk to protect the company.

Responsibilities

• Serve as dedicated employment law advisor to People team and business partners across multi-state operations.
• Provide practical, risk-calibrated guidance on hiring, onboarding, performance, and separations.
• Advise on internal investigations involving misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
• Own EEOC charge process end-to-end and coordinate responses to agency requests.
• Collaborate with Associate General Counsel – Litigation for matters beyond administrative stage.
• Advise on complex leave and reasonable accommodations across states.
• Draft and maintain employment policies and handbook addenda.
• Design and deliver practical employment law training for managers.
