Job summary

Spot & Tango, a leading pet health and wellness brand, is seeking a commercial, in-house attorney to support the founders and executive team across employment, IP, licensing, privacy, and regulatory matters. You will draft and negotiate tight contracts, manage outside counsel, and help scale our legal function in a fast-growing e-commerce environment.

You will oversee risk, data privacy, and brand protection while advising on strategic partnerships, financing, and potential M&A activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in consumer, retail, or e-commerce.
• J.D. from a top-tier law school.
• Active bar membership (New York bar preferred).
• Demonstrated breadth across multiple legal disciplines (employment, IP/trademark, contracts, litigation, financing, privacy).
• Experience advising e-commerce, DTC, or CPG companies is a plus.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise the executive team and cross-functional leaders on legal matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (vendor, licensing, partnerships).
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate complex initiatives.
• Oversee IP portfolio, filings, renewals, and brand protection.
• Support corporate governance, equity/debt financing, and deal documents.
• Ensure privacy, data protection, and consumer terms compliance across platforms.
• Lead the building of scalable legal processes and tools, and grow the team.
