Job summary

The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) seeks a Senior Directing Attorney to lead complex impact litigation from identification of opportunities through reform implementation. You will supervise staff, coordinate with co-counsel, manage budgets, and guide litigation strategy in LGBTQ+ youth rights matters.

The role also involves fundraising, media engagement, and external representation to advance NCYL’s mission of equity and systemic reform for youth across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Bar in good standing in at least one state.
• Minimum 16 years of relevant experience since law school.
• Demonstrated success in leading impact litigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Staff supervision and coordination with co-counsel.
• Oversee investigations, filings, discovery, trials, appeals, and communications.
• Manage remedy and settlement implementation and tracking of compliance.
• Oversee case budgets and litigation cost recovery.
• Represent NCYL externally at conferences and media outlets.
