Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Research Scientist, Flow Cytometry in Seattle to lead and execute high-dimensional cytometry workstreams across discovery and translational programs. You will design multiparameter panels, perform advanced data analysis, and work with teams integrating phenotypic data with molecular signatures to inform biomarker strategies and program decisions.

The role requires deep expertise in flow cytometry (spectral flow), cell sorting, and immunophenotyping,

Qualifications

  • PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 6+ years, or Bachelor’s with 8+ years.
  • Expertise in flow cytometry for immune profiling and biomarker strategies.
  • Experience designing high-parameter panels and intracellular/phospho-flow analyses.
  • Ability to integrate cytometry data with transcriptomic or proteomic datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, optimize, and execute flow cytometry–based assays for discovery and translational objectives.
  • Lead multicolor immunophenotyping panel design, including marker selection and controls.
  • Analyze and interpret complex flow cytometry data to inform mechanism of action studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cellular and molecular datasets.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to study planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare technical documentation and contribute to scientific discussions.
