Immigration Law and Justice of Northern Illinois (ILJNI) in Chicago seeks a managing attorney to oversee all legal services, supervise, train, and motivate staff, and coordinate clinics and outreach across multiple communities.

Reporting to the executive director, you will supervise attorneys, paralegals, and interns, ensure compliance with professional standards, and help advance ILJNI's mission through strategic planning and collaboration with partners and funders.

Formación

• J.D. and license to practice law in any US jurisdiction; Illinois licensure preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of immigration law experience.
• Minimum 3 years supervising legal staff.
• Minimum 2 years of removal defense experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee the delivery of immigration legal services including family-based petitions, asylum, removal defense, deportation defense, U visa, SIJS, naturalization, and other forms of relief.
• Supervise legal staff (attorneys, paralegals, coordinators, interns) and coordinate weekly attorney meetings.
• Oversee agency caseload and set caseload standards; manage relationships with funders, government agencies, and community organizations.
• Collaborate with executive director and board to carry out ILJNI's mission and goals; advise on legal programmatic delivery.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for the direction of legal work and supervise clinics and volunteer collaborations.
• Ensure current legal materials and assist in grant reporting.
