Job summary

National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) seeks a supervising immigration attorney with at least three years of experience to lead our Asylum Project in Chicago. The attorney will supervise lawyers, paralegals, and coordinators, ensure high-quality legal services, oversee intake, and coordinate with management, litigation, policy, and communications.

Qualifications

• JD, license to practice law, and a minimum of three years' experience with a preference in immigration and/or human rights law; ability to represent individuals in complex cases and to formulate sophisticated legal strategies.
• Fluent in Spanish required; strong written and spoken communication in legal and non-legal contexts.

Responsibilities

• Supervises attorneys, paralegals, and coordinators as required by the department.
• Oversees intake of individuals and families and ensures high-quality legal services.
• Develops case strategies and prepares cases for interview or hearing; maintains client records and reports.
