Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first but not remote-only company, seeks a Senior Analyst for Risk Analytics to own ATO and scam risk controls across the ecosystem. You will define risk metrics and partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to implement defenses that scale with product expansion.

You will synthesize insights for leadership and drive data-informed decisions, while leveraging AI responsibly to improve workflows and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on risk experience in e-commerce or financial services, with at least 2 years focused on combating ATO and scams in a Fraud, Trust and Safety, or Account Security function.
• 2+ years of professional experience in data analysis using SQL and Python, including working with large-scale databases.
• Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Superset) to build dashboards and reporting frameworks.
• Proven ability to independently scope and deliver analytics projects while collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams.
• Familiarity with blockchain analytics and fraud trends within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end risk controls for ATO and scam prevention, scaling processes to maintain coverage as the business expands into new products and regions.
• Define risk success metrics, build reporting frameworks, and drive continuous improvement by identifying and prioritizing control enhancements.
• Leverage data to assess risk and make decisions impacting large customer segments, measuring and quantifying associated tradeoffs through rigorous analysis.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to develop custom risk management strategies and techniques across the Coinbase product suite.
• Synthesize data findings into clear narratives and recommendations that influence senior risk and product leadership decisions.
• Investigate and mitigate fraudulent and scam activities by reviewing alerts on anomalous customer and transaction behavior.
