Job summary

Okta’s Identity Team is seeking a Staff Identity Engineer to drive architecture and execution of identity fabric across internal tenants. You will champion Customer Zero, mentoring engineers and shaping IAM designs while simplifying complex problems.

The role emphasizes ownership, urgency, and collaboration with product engineering to deploy new features internally before global release, with an eye toward governance and automation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise IAM solutions.
• Deep expertise in managing complex Okta environments, including OIE, Directory Integrations, Advanced Policies, Workflows.
• Advanced expertise in modern authentication/authorization standards (OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0) and phishing-resistant MFA.
• Experience defining identity controls as code using IaC and multi-cloud guardrails.
• Mentorship and leadership in engineering practices and IAM design.
• Automation-first mindset aligning with SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP.

Responsibilities

• Drive Customer Zero execution by adopting internal capabilities before external release.
• Own lifecycle, policy design, MFA, and federation for enterprise tenants.
• Architect and enforce cloud IAM guardrails across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Mentor engineers and set technical standards across teams.
• Drive security governance and automation with Security, Audit and Compliance.
• Lead AI security integration for enterprise identity layers.
