Job summary

Southwest Research Institute is seeking a Senior IT Specialist to lead Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory initiatives, managing hybrid identities and advanced security configurations. You will architect and support Conditional Access, MFA, and SSO while guiding complex migrations and modernization projects.

Your role requires hands-on expertise with AD FS, PKI, and cloud integration, alongside mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or 6 years relevant experience.
Relevant Microsoft Certifications preferred.
2+ years managing enterprise identity platforms (AD DS, Entra ID) in hybrid environments.
Experience troubleshooting complex authentication across on-premises and cloud workloads.
Hands-on experience with AD FS and PKI systems, including certificates.
Microsoft certifications such as MCSA/MCSE or Azure certifications preferred.
Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

Provide expert support for Entra ID/Active Directory, manage accounts, groups, GPOs, and directory sync across hybrid infra.
Architect, configure, and support CA, MFA, SSO, and Zero Trust policies in Entra ID.
Implement and support secure app integrations using OAuth, SAML, and OpenID Connect.
Manage and troubleshoot AD FS and legacy identity components to maintain secure access.
Plan migrations away from legacy patterns where appropriate.
Serve as senior escalation point for identity-related tickets and provisioning issues.
Mentor junior admins and helpdesk staff.
Conduct regular audits of AD/Entra ID environments to detect vulnerabilities.
Create and maintain process documentation and governance policies.
