Job summary

Broadcom in Colorado Springs is seeking an IC Validation Engineer to validate storage and PCIe switch silicon. You will work with hardware and software teams in a lab environment to ensure compliance with industry standards and product readiness.

Responsibilities include developing C/C++ embedded firmware and host tools, creating validation test plans, automating scripts, and collaborating across pre/post-silicon stages.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Master’s degree with 3+ years experience or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in Electrical/Computer Engineering
• Experience developing/debugging C/C++ embedded firmware and system drivers/host applications
• Experience developing/debugging automated test scripts in Python
• Working knowledge of ARM architecture and firmware programming
• Solid understanding of computer architecture and system-level operation
• Practical experience in system-level debug using FW debuggers, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers
• Strong problem solving and attention to detail
• PCIe (Gen3/4/5) protocol experience preferred
• Ability to read and understand board level schematics
• Experience with Linux environments
• Ability to work independently under tight schedules
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Description

The primary role of the IC Validation team is validating Broadcom's storage and PCIe switch silicon products to ensure they meet all applicable industry standards and operate completely in their intended applications. IC Validation engineers work with the development engineering departments (hardware and software) in validating and debugging new products in a lab environment. This team is continually working with state of the art equipment on leading edge storage and PCIe switch silicon spanning across the pre (emulation) and post silicon validation cycle.

Responsibilities can include

• Construct, review, and execute robust validation test plans on emulation platforms and prototype silicon
• Develop C/C++ based embedded firmware and or/host software tools and applications for low level system validation
• Develop test scripts to control protocol exercisers and automate various validation tools and equipment
• Work in parallel with the software development, FPGA Emulation, and IC Design teams as part of the pre/post silicon validation process
• Work with the board development team on validation and reference board designs and new product requirements
• Drive technical debug and resolution of issues encountered at the complete system level. Propose creative workarounds and implement solutions to complex problems.
• Work with external customers on initial silicon bring-up and system level integration/troubleshooting
• Effectively present technical information to teams of engineers. Educate Field Application Engineers (FAEs) on new product features and operation
• Work with the Technical Publications group on engineering notes, data sheets, and architectural manuals

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the US
• Minimum 3+ years industry experience with Master’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering field; or minimum 5+ years industry experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering
• Experience developing/debugging C/C++ based code (emphasis in embedded FW and system drivers/host applications preferred)
• Experience developing/debugging automated test scripts written in in Python
• Working knowledge of ARM architecture and firmware programming preferred
• Solid understanding of computer architecture and system level operation/execution
• Practical experience in system level debug utilizing FW debuggers, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers.
• Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
• PCIe (Gen3/4/5) protocol experience preferred including knowledge of LTSSM, system enumeration and configuration space format.
• Understanding of basic PCB concepts
• Ability to read and understand board level schematics
• Experience with Linux environments
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision under tight schedules
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Strong communication skills, including verbal, presentation, and documentation
• Excellent teamwork skills

Compensation And Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 91,100.00 To USD 146,000.00
