Job summary

Flex, a NYC-based fintech, is seeking a Staff Product Designer to drive design vision across complex consumer products. This contract role emphasizes craft, strategy, and cross-functional influence rather than people management.

You will own end-to-end design processes, shape product roadmaps, mentor peers, and advance the design system while leveraging AI tools to accelerate exploration and prototyping. Hybrid in NYC/SF; relocation considered.

Qualifications

• Senior IC contributor on complex consumer products.
• Deep expertise in UX/UI design with shipped work at significant scope and quality.
• Ability and experience operating at product strategy level, shaping direction through design.
• Exceptional execution skills with high attention to detail in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping.
• Excellent communication skills; able to work fluidly with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, marketing, and executive leadership.
• Proficiency in modern design tooling; fluency with front-end development.
• Comfort using AI tools across the design process for research, exploration, prototyping, and workflow improvement.
• Genuine interest in financial products and improving people’s financial lives.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate design vision for Flex’s critical product initiatives.
• Own end-to-end design process on flagship initiatives from research to final execution.
• Collaborate with design, product, and engineering to shape directions across product areas.
• Establish and evolve design standards, processes, and patterns for the organization.
• Mentor designers and contribute to the design system evolution.
