Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Lead Identity & Access Management Engineer to provide technical leadership for the university’s enterprise IAM program. The role oversees design, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of authentication, authorization, identity provisioning, and identity governance across all systems and applications.

Qualifications

• Experience with IAM systems and provisioning workflows.
• Strong knowledge of security protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Kerberos, RADIUS).
• Familiar with NIST, FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead IAM initiatives and inform strategic direction for IAM ecosystem across university systems.
• Collaborate on architectural design and documentation for IAM services across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Configure and maintain IAM platforms including lifecycle management, provisioning, and access reviews.
• Design and implement enterprise IAM service architecture including SSO, MFA, federation, and automation workflows.
• Analyze complex problems and develop innovative IAM solutions; lead integration efforts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement IAM standards and best practices across systems.
